The GDS Story

Gambini Defense Solutions was launched in 2025 by veteran Detective Sergeant  Paul Gambini. Currently located in Eastern Tennessee, Paul retired from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department in July 2023 after having served over 25 years with one of the largest law enforcement agencies in the country. Throughout his career, he gained extensive experience in major crime investigations, high-profile cases, and complex law enforcement operations. His expertise spans robberies, homicides, organized crime, and child abuse/death investigations. Paul was fortunate to work alongside and learn from some of the most talented detectives, District Attorneys, Assistant United States Attorneys, crime scene analysts, and support staff.

Those 25 years were a masterclass in all things crime.

Beginning his career as a patrol officer, Paul spent eight years in some of Las Vegas’s highest-crime areas, developing critical street and interpersonal skills. He later became a Sergeant, overseeing street-level investigations, including auto theft, burglaries, and domestic violence cases. His investigative career accelerated when he was selected to lead a team within the Robbery/Homicide Bureau responsible for major robbery cases, including one of the most notorious casino heists in Las Vegas history. This unit was all go, all the time, with non stop high profile cases and lengthy investigations.

Throughout these 25 years, Paul played a key role in high-risk investigations, employing cutting-edge techniques such as DNA, precision pen registers, cell phone analysis, Title III wiretaps, and all forms of surveillance. His work also extended beyond local law enforcement, integrating with federal agencies and international training programs.

Specialized Task Forces & Leadership Roles:

  • Robbery/Homicide (2010-2012)

    • Led investigations into street robberies, bank robberies, and casino heists

    • Directed high-profile cases with national media attention

    • Utilized advanced forensic and surveillance methods, including federal wiretaps

    • Responsible for Kidnap for Ransom cases, trained from retired Inspectors from Scotland Yards Kidnap Management unit, and wrote the units Standard Operating Procedures

  • Las Vegas Safe Streets FBI Gang Task Force (2012-2016)

    • Selected to supervise the team responsible for targeting the most violent criminal gangs in Las Vegas, utilizing RICO and Drug conspiracies

    • Cross deputized as a Special Deputy US Marshall, maintaining a Top Secret Clearance

    • Directed scores of undercover drug and firearm trafficking operations, working closely with  the Las Vegas US Attorney's office

  • Homicide & Sex Crimes Bureau – Child Death Investigations (Final Assignment)

    • Responded to and investigated all child deaths in Clark County, Nevada, including murder cases and their subsequent prosecution

    • Worked closely with the Medical Examiner’s Office and Child Protective Services. As well as daily review of all child abuse reports numbering in the 100’s per week.

    • Elected as Vice Chairman of the Clark County Child Death Review Team

      • This was a state mandated, monthly review board, composed of doctors, attorneys, medical examiners, product specialists, CPS, and others that reviewed every death of a child within Clark County, in an attempt to prevent them and if the cause found to be criminal, to prosecute the ones responsible.

Paul was a supervisor for 17 of his 25 years on the department. He therefore was responsible for reviewing, and adjudicating, many use-of-force incidents, ensuring legal and ethical applications. He was also responsible for applying corrective measures and or training if appropriate. His deep understanding of law enforcement operations, coupled with strong investigative instincts and communication skills, makes him a valuable resource for legal teams. He has extensive experience in case analysis, interview and interrogation techniques, and high-stakes decision-making.

With decades of experience in criminal investigations, Paul now offers his expertise to law firms, providing insight into case strengths, investigative strategies, and trial preparation. His ability to analyze evidence, identify weaknesses in cases, and effectively communicate findings makes him a strong asset to any legal team.
